HONORS MILITARY VETERANS AND HIS SON,MARINE CORPS PFC CHANCE PHELPS

A ceremony with music by the Wyoming National Guard Band honored veteran John Phelps and his son, Marine Corps PFC Chance Phelps. Chance lost his life protecting his comrades during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The celebration was held this summer, July 16, 2011, at the Freemont County Court House, Landers Wyoming.

Nine feet tall, weighing 800 pounds, it honors Freemont County veterans.

The award winning HBO movie, Taking Chance, starring Kevin Bacon tells the story of Chance’s return home.  Numerous YouTubes are available for viewing details of Chance’s service to his country at youtubes.com, search Chance Phelps.

A week packed with plein air painting, marketing classes, and a special high school mentor program on Friday sent everyone home with memories of a life-time.
